Wednesday, October 30, 2013

Fort Lauderdale is the place to be this weekend for those who enjoy nautical pursuits, as the 54th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will be running from Thursday, October 31st, to Monday, November 4. Question: If I want to buy a home at Auction, Should I use a Buyers Agent?

Answer: Buying a home whether through auction, as a distressed property, or through traditional means, has many of the same steps and having a buyer agent to take you through inspections, help organize your financing, and searching for the home, is not necessarily imperative, but it is highly recommended. Many of us can sew a button, but you would want a tailor to take up a hem. It is one of the many instances where it is best to hire a professional, if you want optimal results.

Unlike a traditional sale or a distressed sale, you must have everything in place before an auction including financing, and inspections, and if you bid, you must be prepared to close very quickly. It is also recommended to bring a cashiers check to prove you are a serious bidder. The property will be sold to the highest bidder and the seller can accept, turn down, or counter your bid. Do not be discouraged if you do not win an auction, and have a number of auctions and homes in mind. Unlike traditional home buying, this holds an element of excitement and potential reward, but if you are looking for this type of home buying experience, you likely enjoy that! Contact me today if this is of interest to you!
