Downtown Development Focus, 23 Biscayne

Thursday, August 29, 2013

There are over 60 new luxury developments in the metro Miami area, and every day there comes yet another announcement of more properties. Miami’s skyline will scarcely look the same and these preconstruction residences are selling out faster than the developments are announced! My featured development this week is in the Downtown neighborhood with easy access to Bayfront Park, Margaret Pace Park, and the Bayside Marketplace. 23 Biscayne Bay is located at 601 NE 23rd St and is brought to you by the developer Melo Group. Prices have not been released yet, however the amenities, both interiors and property wide, will surely put homes well into the millions.

This Melo Group properties are renowned for their modern lines and minimalist architecture. 23 Biscayne will follow that formula with a 17 story building with only 96 units. Building amenities include large pool deck with waterfront views, high speed elevators, multilevel and secure parking, state of the art fitness facility, and social room for entertaining. The residences will feature expansive terraces with glass balconies, flow through floorplans, sprinkler fire protection, impact resistant openings, energy efficient windows, stackable washer dyers, European cabinetry, stainless appliances, and polished granite countertops. These residences are in such an in demand neighborhood that these are likely to sell out very quickly. Miami Spice is Here!

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

The months of August and September are ordinarily a time when Miami is quieter as many seek colder climates, however they are truly missing out because it is Miami Spice season! Miami Spice is a city-wide initiative where new as well as established restaurants offer prix fix menus to introduce new dishes to the culinary scene. The top names in the culinary world participate offering total dining experiences at prices that are affordable to all. Prices for dinners are $39 and lunch is between $19-$23. From tapas to tenderloins, there are hundreds of restaurants to choose from and cuisines to sample. Below are my Miami Spice recommendations, and they happen to be in the areas with some of the most luxurious real estate. If you choose to visit, and find the neighborhood interesting, contact me for more information on available homes or condos. Happy Dining!

Makoto: Located in a prestigious shopping destination, Bal Harbour Shoppes, Makato is the Japanese conception of Makoto Okuwa and features modern Japanese cuisine. It is beautifully and simply prepared with attention to fresh ingredients and simple cooking techniques. For those watching their figure, it is light and guilt free. Some of the most popular dishes include Short Rib Udon and Whitefish Tiradito.

The Bazaar by Jose Andres: Jose Andres is one of the most esteemed chefs in the American culinary scene, and we are fortunate to be the home of his newest restaurant located in the luxury hotel SLS. His Spanish heritage is celebrated in this tapas style restaurant and the Spice menu offers 3 choices of tapas plus desert. Some dishes not to be missed are the ham croquettes, sautéed shrimp in garlic, and the artisanal cheese platter.

Milo’s: Milo’s is a chain restaurant with locations in Las Vegas and New York, but the offerings are anything but chain like. The focus of this restaurant is on fish flown in daily from Greece and ingredients only found in Greece. It is light and refreshing from the salads to the expertly steamed fish. The charred octopus and Greek salad of tomatoes and feta are as you have never experienced before. It is located in the South of Fifth neighborhood and you can take a leisurely walk after dining.

Mercadito: Chef Ryan Poli conceived this menu of upscale and repurposed Mexican dishes. It is located in the Midtown District, which is a walkable enclave in between the Wynwood Arts District and the Design District. It is a relaxed atmosphere and cocktails are also included in the Spice menu. Guacamole, ceviche, and tacos are a must, Ole!
